Methods and competences
Based on our comprehensive technical equipment, our offer for customers for reliability forecasts of PV and battery inverters includes:
1. Component and device analysis
- Identification of critical components that are relevant to both costs and service life
- Investigation of interactions in the device and methodology for predicting the service life of the entire device
- Creation of fault catalogs, including well-founded descriptions of failure types, fault characteristics and causes of failure as part of the physics-of-failure (PoF) assessment
2. Determination of failure and ageing mechanisms
- Identification of typical failure mechanisms in individual components such as film capacitors, connectors and switching devices, PCB-based control electronics and ceramic-based power modules
- Non-destructive and destructive analysis of damaged individual components and inverters in the overall system
- Development of adapted preparation routines for experimental investigations
3. development of improved methodologies
- development of numerical simulation approaches for predicting service life
- creation of CAD models for simulating mechanical, thermal and electrical fields
- simulation of moisture distribution in the individual components and in the overall device and analysis of the results
4. evaluation and optimization of test procedures
- Development and optimization of accelerated tests to provoke error mechanisms and estimate service life considerations (thermal, thermomechanical, chemical, electrochemical)
- Development of accelerated electrical tests with cooperation partners for applications in power electronics, contact technologies and for structural analysis of semiconductors
