Better thermal management for semiconductor chips

Dr. Nils Jonas Ziegeler has received the Best Paper Award at the international "Therminic 2023" workshop in Budapest for his work in the field of thermal management of opto-mechatronic systems. The findings can contribute to the improved development of high-performance headlights and rear lights.

Infrared thermography for analysis of the heat conduction path

Sufficient cooling of heat-sensitive components is essential in many areas of technology, such as LEDs. A patented process developed by the Fraunhofer Application Center (AWZ) for Inorganic Phosphors together with the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Soest is designed to help detect and evaluate weak points.

Luminescent glasses as the basis of new phosphors for the optimization of LEDs

Luminescent glasses can optimize modern light sources for a variety of applications. Current research work at the Fraunhofer Application Center in Soest is also evaluating new materials such as luminescent glass ceramics for possible fields of application.

Thermally stable phosphors for white LEDs

The right combination of LED and phosphor is decisive for further optimization of white-light LEDs.

Luminescent lenses for white light-emitting diodes

Longer life, more stable color impression - achieved by new phosphors based on luminescent lenses.

Thermal imaging of LEDs

Which parts of LEDs are particularly subjected to thermal stress? How can components be appropriately adapted? The answers can be found using the equipment of the Fraunhofer AWZ.
